Wenn noch kein Team vorhanden ist… / If there is no team yet...

Team erstellen / Create a Team

Wenn Sie in der Forschung Ihrer Arbeitsgruppe eLabFTW nutzen möchten, dieser Dienst aber bisher noch nicht genutzt wurde, ist der erste Schritt, ein Team erstellen zu lassen. Dafür benötigen Sie folgendes:

• Einen Namen für das neue Team (es bietet sich der Name Ihrer Arbeitsgruppe an)
• Eine oder mehrere angestellte oder mitarbeitende Personen, die als Team-Admin fungieren, sowie deren E-Mail-Adressen

Füllen Sie dann das Formular unter https://form.hhu.de/das-zim/elabftw-team-beantragen/ aus.

If your research group would like to use eLabFTW but has not yet used this service, the first step is to have a team created. For this, you will need the following:

• A name for the new team (your research group’s name is a good choice)

• One or more employees or collaborators who will act as team admins, along with their email addresses

Then fill in the form at: https://form.hhu.de/das-zim/elabftw-team-beantragen/

Aufgaben von Admins / Admin tasks

Um Team-Admin zu sein, ist kein besonderes technisches Know-How erforderlich. Jedoch ist es notwendig, dass man zeitnah und regelmäßig auf Anfragen der Nutzenden im eigenen Team reagieren kann. Wenn das Team groß ist, empfiehlt es sich, mehr als eine Person als Team-Admin zu bestimmen.

Wenn Sie Admin sind, können Sie jederzeit Personen aus Ihrem Team mit Adminrechten versehen. Geben Sie diese Rechte aber nur an Personen, denen Sie vertrauen, denn Admins haben innerhalb eines Teams sehr weitreichende Berechtigungen, inklusive derer, Admins hinzuzufügen und natürlich auch zu entfernen.  Sollten sie die Rolle des Team-Admins abgeben wollen, dann können Sie so auch eine Person bestimmen, die Ihnen nachfolgt.

To be a team admin, no special technical know-how is required. However, it is necessary to be able to respond promptly and regularly to requests from users in your team. If the team is large, it is recommended to appoint more than one person as team admin. 

If you are an admin, you can always give admin rights to people on your team. However, only give these rights to people you trust, because admins have very wide-ranging permissions within a team, including those to add and, of course, remove admins. If you wish to relinquish the role of team admin, then you can designate a person to succeed you.

Gerne vereinbaren wir einen Termin zur Demonstration oder ermöglichen Ihnen einen Zugang zu unserer Testinstanz. Bitte sehen Sie davon ab, die Hauptinstanz von eLabFTW zum Ausprobieren der Funktionalitäten des Dienstes zu nutzen, da eine Löschung der angelegten Experimente hier nicht vorgesehen ist. 

If you are still not sure whether eLabFTW is a suitable tool for your work, please contact us by sending an email to elabftw@hhu.de. We will be happy to make an appointment for a demonstration or give you access to our test instance. Please refrain from using the main instance of eLabFTW to try out the functionalities of the service, as deletion of created experiments is not provided for here.

Wenn es schon ein Team gibt… / If there is already a team...

If there is already a team in your workgroup, then you can get access to eLabFTW by asking your team admin to add you to the team. All your team admin needs is your name, your email address and your university ID. Once you are enrolled in the team, you will be able to log in to eLabFTW using your university username.
