Safety Instructions

General safety: 

• never leave room open/ unsupervised - there have been reports of theft and randalism
• be aware of where you place personal valuables
• keep your space clean - and also the common areas

Safety equipment:

• long trousers, closed shoes 
• goggles and lab coat if working with chemicals
• single use gloves according to the requirements and hazards of your work (i.e. no gloves when weighting fine powder - electrostatic interferences, no nitrile gloves with nitric acid - burns)
• make sure to use the 'right' gloves - chemistry vs biology!
• use ear preotection/ face masks where appropriate
• skin protection (use lotion before and after work)

Legal requirements: get a safety instruction from Guido before starting any laboratory work and a S1 safety instruction from Lena before starting any S1 work.
