Good internship practises

Absences: If you are ill, have a lecture during the internship time or other valid reasons to stay away from the lab, please inform your supervisor asap. Usually, this should not pose a problem - as the internship is mostly between you and your supervisor, a high degree of flexibility is possible as long as communiation is well managed. 

Always...

... inform your supervisor about your arrival/ leave 

... ask for help, communicate struggles and be open about what you need

... keep good notes for the labbook

... ask questions and be interested  

Never... 

... work in the lab unsupervised

... do an experiment without first discussing it with your supervisor

... do an experiment if you are unsure about the task. You may not only end up wasting time, money or material, but in the worst case, injure yourself in the process.
